When you visit China, you are stepping onto 5,000 years of history. During the time that our family lived and worked in Hong Kong (the “Ping Pong” era), diplomacy between
the United States and China began to emerge, which opened the door for American visitors to explore China in the future. That time is now.
After returning to America in the 1970s, we discovered that we were not alone in our love for China; many other Americans wanted the chance to visit this beautiful country,
rich in culture and history. I began compiling a file of names of others who wanted to visit China, and after many years and much red tape,
the first group of 24 visas was granted and we had our first tour group set up. That was in November of 1977. Within 24 hours of receiving the confirmation of those visas,
McIntosh Tours was born.
And while the China we saw back then was, without question, unforgettable, it is worlds away from the adventures that await you on a tour of China today.
